Connecting the U.P. and the L.P. is the Mighty Mac!

In 1954, the bridge was started on the 5 miles of suspension bridge that connects the two peninsulas of Michigan. In 1957, the bridge was open to traffic. Sure it is safe to drive, they even have a walk the bridge event. But for those of us who don’t like heights, driving on the grates in the middle lanes are not fun, are not enjoyable, and if you could drive with your eyes closed you would!

It’s even a celebrity since it did make an appearance on “Dirty jobs”!!! Host Mike Rowe came to see the brave souls that paint the bridge. And to do this job you have to love painting because it takes seven years, SEVEN YEARS!! to paint the whole bridge from one peninsula to the other. And when they finally finish and can take a minute to appreciate their art, they have to go start over again!

So bring your camera, stock up in courage and cross the bridge, and to make the fare a steal, go at sunrise/sunset and be amazed!

Milkshakes, Coca Cola, French Fries, and of course the main feature to stop at Clyde’s…

The BIG ‘C’!

A burger that is truly worthy of requiring two hands to eat! It weighs in at nearly a pound of awesomeness, it’s enjoyable, its delightful and you will enjoy the food coma that you will most certainly go through hours after eating the monster!

Clyde’s Drive In is a must stop in the U.P. Just minutes from the bridge, so if you are heading south, make sure you stop and eat. If you are heading north and just got off the bridge, what better way to enjoy the feat of crossing the mighty mac than dominating a BIG C!

Of course Clyde’s has other dishes that are sure to delight. Chicken strips, deep fried zucchini, and so on, but let’s be honest The BIG ‘C’ is the main draw, the Michael Jordan of the menu.

So man up, order it, gasp at its size, forget your calories for tonight and add a pound!
