Tonight was the finale of SCRUBS, whether it was the series or the season, it is definately over. With J.D. leaving and Kelso as well I believe the show is not and will not be the same. Just the episodes this last season without J.D. were missing something. I believe SCRUBS falls in with Arrested Development as shows that were not understood or appreciated as they should have been. SCRUBS did last 8 seasons but it never really seemed to get network support because the numbers were never there.
I am so very happy that this last season was made, the show was sent out the correct way, with a finale that highlighted many different parts of the 8 seasons as well as many of the characters that came and went. (Although there was no Tara Reid sighting)
I really enjoyed the last 10 minutes. The goodbyes, and the final walk out the hallway and then we got to see the future, what was to come, the lives as they were going to be lived out. Giving us fans what we all wanted to see, J.D. and Elliott finally getting hitched, having kids, still hanging out with Turk and Carla and the Dr. Cox family.
My all-time favorite episodes are:
Season 3 Episode 14 “My Screw Up” – This is the episode where it ends at Ben’s (Brendan Fraser) funeral, it really is an amazing episode that goes from comedy to tragedy.
Season 5 Episode 16 “My Bright Idea” – This is where Turk and JD find out before Carla that she is pregnant and they stage a big congrats when Carla wants to be able to tell everyone but they already know. There is a moment at the end of the show where Turk and Carla are going over the fact that Turk has told everyone and she doesnt get to share the news but she is justĀ beyond excited about the fact that she is pregnant that it doesn’t matter. That scene gets me. Something about the connection and the joy of finding out about your little one that is so amazing!
So goodbye SCRUBS, you were my first show, 8 seasons of hanging weekly, discovering new music, laughing and picking up new nicknames for close friends, the time was great and live well in re-run land!
