Phelps – Dominating the Water(bong) Still!

I think we have all seen or heard about the picture of Mr. Olympic, Michael Phelps, with a bong in hand.

So he won 8 medals in the water and is going for another water-related medal, big deal. I am sure if we went through all the pictures that were taken at the Olympics in 2008 by the athletes, there would most likely be some more images like this one.

And is it really this big of a deal? Does he need to be so bombarded about this issue? I think the stories 15 minutes are up and let the guy be, bong or not he won a ton of medals. Not that he should be excused because he is an athlete, but I am saying this whole thing is out of hand, Phelps said he was sorry, he apologized, he fessed up and is ready to move on. Why can’t everyone else?

Why is everyone calling for his head?

Why do his sponsors need to drop him? It’s their choice, if you are so upset don’t buy their products.

My opinion is that he is a public figure and he slipped up and so everyone who wants to make a name is trying to use his situation and his status to climb the ladder. They want to be the one who charged Phelps, or the one who got Phelps suspended. I seriously think those people have some issues with athletic people that stem from their high school gym class days and love the chance to take down the Big Man on Campus Superstar when they can.

This situation just screams for Phelps to get his own superfan like Britney.

Please can we move on now, can I not have to hear about this anymore on SportsCenter?

Many thanks.

If you think about it, doesn’t the fact that he smokes pot make his 8 gold medals even more impressive? I thought potheads were lazy and unfocused and couldn’t accomplish any thing. Those commercials even led me to believe that any one that smokes pot is going to drive their car over helpless little girls on bicycles? Phelps should probably pursue some new sponsors that are going to make him the role model for a new generation. High Times Magazine? Funjons? Dominoes? Maybe him and Dave Chapel could team up and accomplish great things for the pot community?
